About
Abimbola is the lead partner in charge of Taxation/Corporate Governance Practice Group in Solola & Akpana. He has exceptional proficiency in commercial law, taxation, corporate governance, risk management, et al. He also has excellent experience in providing litigation, company secretarial and transactional advisory services to both local and international companies engaged in Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Construction, Banking and Finance, among others. He has provided expert legal advice concerning regulatory compliance, legislative monitoring and statutory reviews and is also known for his skills in alternative dispute resolution.
Specifically, Abimbola serves on the Board of several entities traversing a wide spectrum of industries in the capacity of Director or Company Secretary, on behalf of the Firm and/or its Clients, including Craneburg Construction Company Limited, Stonespec Limited, Lubrik Construction Company Limited, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, Indorama Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, QFA Nigeria Limited, Locodove Ventures Limited, Petroleum Contractors Trade Section, Saba Steel Industrial Ltd., Indorama Fertilizers FZE, Craneburg Construction FZE, among others.
Notable achievements
- Acted as Transaction Co-lead in the merger of a bank previously under the ownership and control of AMCON, and possessing a national licence with another regionally licenced bank to form a new nationally-licenced Plc, which has emerged as one of Nigeria’s foremost banks.
- Led the team of the lead legal advisor to the reserved bidder in the concession bid for the development of fallow land around a National monumental edifice located at Iganmu, Lagos State; the concession was structured as a public private partnership project worth more than N108 billion.
- Led the team of legal advisors to the trustee in the establishment of a pioneering infrastructure fund in Nigeria, of a value of more than US$150 million.
- Leading the team of sole legal advisor in the restructuring and recapitalisation of one of the foremost construction companies in Nigeria, with an asset base of more than N200 billion.
- Leading the team of legal advisor to an Automobiles entity duly registered in the Republic of France in a strategic business relationship by way of a JV for the development and operation of certain Greenfield automobiles production facilities in Nigeria, with an initial aggregate capital contribution of circa N3.5 billion.
- Co-leading the team of joint solicitors to a State government in southern Nigeria, in the restructuring of its N50 billion Bond Issuance Programme.
